“For the rebel hearts. Don’t lose hope. Our fight lives on.”

Book cover tablet mock up of "The Rebel and the Captive" with book title, author, star rating, and tropes on a black background

This book sucker punched me a few times and I honestly just sat there thanking it for it. Oh my gosh. I’m not going to lie, this might be one of my favourite reads of the year so far. I was on the edge of my seat, holding on for dear life as I rode this rollercoaster with no safety restraints.

Once again - I loved the introduction of another 2 POV characters. When I worked out that Ronin and Mireille were going to be POV characters, making the total now 6, I was a little worried I’d get them a little mixed up… but no. They all have their own, very unique voices and even without the names at the beginning of chapters I knew which character the POV was in.

I’m not going to say much about the plot because there’s so much and saying anything really would give it away. It’s amazing, and you see so much more of the world, expanding the map and diving further into the awesome lore.

That ending though… far out… I don’t want to wait to know what’s going to happen. I need to know NOW haha.

Thank you so much Kris for giving me the opportunity to read and review this beautiful story… and thanks for all the pain, the tears, the laughs… and the times I wanted to throw my Kindle at the wall.
