“My dad always said that tragedy comes in threes. I never understood what he meant by that until now.”

Tablet cover mock up of The Lies Always Told with title, author, star rating, and tropes on a black background.

Once again, Ambar has delivered a heart wrenching touchdown of a book. I haven’t cried so much throughout the entirety of a book for a while. I cried (a lot) and laughed, kicked my feet with excitement, and grumbled in frustration (because if you’re not frustrated with some characters’ antics is there tension at all? haha) - it really was a rollercoaster. A lot of it hit super close to home and it was emotional.

I LOVED Nellie and Gus’ dynamic, and felt so bad for both of them. Everything was stacked up against them, from how close their families are, to both of them deciding that they’re not able to commit to other people, or that they’re too different or damaged… It was a lot… and I loved it.

And as for that gut punch… Ambar… what in the world are you doing to me!?

This was a masterpiece and I’m so looking forward to more from the Baker Oaks crew… though I know I’m just going to be more in the feels. Thank you so much Ambar for giving me the opportunity to read and review yet another absolutely gorgeous story.
